Sunbirds and sugarbirds are drawn to a profusion of proteas and pincushions, guineafowl and francolin scratch in the undergrowth, and owls and nightjars can be heard calling across the valley in the early hours. Some of the owls nest in the mature trees of Estate’s wooded ravine, which is watered by a perennial stream and two collection dams.
There are several easy walking trails through the grounds, and unrestricted access to the Pipe Track running along the base of the Vlakkenberg.
